Once again my luck holds true. I begin to root for Vino, and here is the result.
Cycling…the cursed sport.

i dont know much about ole vino. im sure he’s pretty bitter about his untimely exit from the tour; however, i would like to say two things about this particular predicament.
1) the cycling community is pretty swift and severe with their punishment of not only the cyclists but their teams. careers are basically ruined from a single instance of positive “doping”.
2) having said that it seems like the testing procedure is far from “shadows of doubt” especially considering the severity of the discipline.
now i have no problem with the repercussions. i believe if the sport is to survive it will need a very swift and firm hand to keep those cyclists “off the shed”, but i also believe that the testing should be a little more conclusive.
from the little i’ve read about homologous transfusion testing it seems their experimentation phase only included test subjects who positively underwent the transfusion which the test 100% identified. However, they didn’t have a control group to see if any negative positives showed up which seems very strange to me. Also, i read that you can perform this test multiple times up to 120 days (when the donors blood eventually passes from the system) to aptly determine if a transfusion was used.
It just seems with so much on the line and the strict screening especially during the tour they wouldn’t be this stupid. It also seems that there would be a more concrete and conclusive testing system when the punishment is so severe. just my two cents.
btw, im a biking/ultimate frisbee demon these days. i’m thinking about throwing in the towel and just growing a billy goat scruff, eating granola 24/7 and moving to a “collective” to complete my transformation to the flower child side.
not really though. i would rather fuck the billy goats than the hippy chicks.

Right on. I’m just pissed that the guy I picked to root for was the one who got tapped. I should have picked Rasmussen to root for. I hate that guy.
Did you take your bike with you, or did you spring for a new one?

i still have “vaseline green”. i’m kinda yearning for my mongoose though. most of my trips are not planned around distance as much as pot holes and uprooted streets.
