Friday night I went out to the Gerbils show with Sonya. It was pretty fun. My fantasy of Jeff Mangum showing up and having an impromptu Neutral Milk Hotel reunion didn’t pan out, but watching Scott Spillane rock out is just as good. It’d been awhile since I’d seen him…he’s trimmed his beard way back. He still looks like he’s 60 though.
Saturday I totally bitched out of going to the Chasers at Tasty World. Sorry Sonya! I ended up going to see a History of Violence with Meghan instead. That movie kicked ass. I think I was the only guy in the theater cheering when the violence went down though. I’m pretty sure I embarrassed Meghan a little. I highly recommend this movie.
Sunday did a bunch of chores, got my oil changed, cleaned out the crap from the back of the jeep. Getting ready for a long week ahead.

Football? Does anyone remember football? You missed my Crimson Tide roll over the Florida Gators? What are you thinking, dude? And what about the Falcons? Chris. What’s wrong with you?

actually I did watch all of those games, especially the AL/FA game. I took special pleasure in the abject humiliation of Florida and Chris Leak. May their season go down in flames.
It was tough watching Prothro get his leg snapped in two places though. That turned my stomach. He took it like a man though. Didn’t shed a tear. I hope that the Tide can deal with that loss.

I ended up falling asleep on my couch and missing the show anyway. The Chasers play pretty often so we’ll catch them next time, and I saw them a few weeks ago anyway. No biggie – there are plenty more shows in the future…
This Friday I’m leaving to go to Oregon on vacation, so you won’t have me around to diss for a whole week. You’ll have to rely on your wife and the other mysterious Dothanites for company.

Oregon eh? Better bring back some pictures. It’s pretty nice up there. Have fun, relax, and when you come back we’ll go to some more shows. There’s some good ones coming up. One in particular to be on the lookout for is the Spoon show at the 40 watt. I fucking love those guys. I’ve yet to see them live.
