Stage 9 News

Today’s stage was a good one I think. A long breakaway by Michael Rasmussen of Rabobank for the stage win and the King of the Mountain jersey. Also, Discovery let Jens Voigt of CSC move into the race lead by a couple of minutes. This will take the pressure off the team for a few days as Jens isn’t a favorite for the overall win. This means he can’t hang in the big mountains when the real pressure will be on. So Discovery has some time to get their shit together. They rode much better today, keeping a presence in the front of the peloton the whole day. Lance should be happy with that. Tomorrow is a rest day.

Sad note, David Zabriskie had to abandon today. He never fully recovered from that accident during the Team Time Trial. I feel bad for him.
