Damn
Mitch Hedberg is dead. He was just in Athens a few weeks ago too. This is not cool.
News
Rode my bike 3 times last week and once so far this week. Going good. I’m getting stronger, recovering from hills faster. And it’s getting more fun! So that’s good.
On the negative side, my roof was leaking like crazy the other day. We had to have the plumber come in and fix it. He did fix it, but he had to cut a few holes in our ceilings and walls to narrow down the problem. So now we’re waiting on the guy to come fix THAT now.
Watched House tonight. That show kicks a whole lot of ass. I haven’t watched a dramatic show in forever that made me want to actually make an appointment to see the next episode.
The race is on
Ok, I’ve ridden my bike twice this week, a distance of about 9 miles each trip. So far so good! I haven’t puked my guts out yet, but i have almost passed out. But it gets better each time, and easier to keep up the routine.
Went to atlanta for a cisco conference and guess who I ran into at the registration table…my old boss Tom! I was pretty happy to see him and we hung out the whole day. He’s a great guy and he’s really doing well for himself. I’m happy for him! We had a good time messing around at the conference. He knew just about everyone there and introduced me to a lot of folks. I got some good ideas from talking with him too. I also got to go by and see the new Combest office, which is pretty sweet. Nick was at the office, so I got to say hey to him too.
All in all, a good day.
Travis is coming up this weekend, so it looks like I’ll be working on building the box for the back of my jeep. Hope that goes well, cause it’s starting to get a little hot out.
Gettin ready
OK, I went to the new Sunshine Cycles in downtown Watkinsville after work the other day to get some shit for the bike, and I walked into a pretty sweet situation. The owner, Jimmy, was there and was having a big problem with his computer. The hard drive crashed and he was one step away from shipping it to dell, and losing all of his shop info. Long story short, I fixed it in 15 minutes and saved him a shitload of extra work. He was stoked, and I was stoked. He gave me a break on the junk I came in there to buy and spent a lot of time making sure I had the right stuff.
I bought a set of fenders for the bike so I won’t get “the stripe” when I ride in the rain. Also an LED taillight and headlight set. Plus the requisite jersey and shorts. I also picked out the rack and bags I’m gonna get soon so I can carry my laptop.
OK, the point is, I have plenty of gear and motivation. Time to shut the hell up and get on the bike. This saturday is going to be bike riding day for Chris. I have my first route all planned. It’s only an 8 mile ride, perfect for getting my bike legs back.
Tomorrow the furniture we bought from Rooms To Go is going to be delivered. I’ll be glad to sleep in my own bedroom again. We’ve been sleeping in the guest room because Meghan wanted all the furniture moved out of our room so we could paint it. Which we did. So now everything is ready.
Speaking of ready, I’m ready for tomorrow to come and go. I need a damn break. It’s been a busy ass week at work. My boss was gone all week on vacation, and a lot of things were going on at the office, so it was pretty stressful. I’m tired. So I’m going to bed now.
Jawarhalal
Hey. I’m drunk. yeah, after a long day of painting and inhaling paint fumes, I’ve decided to tax my liver with a Horn Dog (gross) and 4 Miller High Lifes, the champagne of beers. They aren’t that bad, but they are not PBR. Gracias to Brent for supplying me with the Beer and Ren and Stimpy.
So we painted the bedroom today. It’s now sky blue. I think that color will go well with the black furniture that is on the way from Rooms To Go. khaki, blue and black all go together quite well.
Futurama is coming on. “Good news everyone!”
Sad note: I broke my damn sunglasses today. Asshole.
Tomorrow is laundry day, and bike riding day (and possibly puking day). I haven’t ridden in so long, when I attempt to ride 8 miles, it will probably fuck me up badly. But I will feel better for it in the long run.
Ok, time to take a shower and go to bed.
Too long
OK, matt came to visit this past weekend and it rocked. I didn’t get to see as much of him as I would have liked but I think it was a good visit. I was very stressed about it but that all turned out to be unfounded. I think matt managed his time pretty well and spent a lot of time with my Mom who was also up.
I feel pretty good about a lot of things right now. We’ve ordered some furniture from Rooms To Go which will be delivered in a couple weekends. This weekend we are painting our bedroom, which could be fun. I’m getting ready to start riding my bike. I’m going to be building a secure trunk for my Jeep in the next couple weeks. Things at work are going very well.
Knock on wood. Hope things keep up the way they are going.
Indigo tonight
I’m going to the acoustic Indigo Girls show tonight at the 40 watt. Meghan and a bunch of her teacher friends are going and she bought me a ticket. I happen to like the Indigo Girls. I’ve seen them once at Chastain Park, but this will be totally different. I’m looking forward to it. I just hope they don’t wax eloquent with the liberal lesbian bullshit. I fucking hate getting lectured while I’m trying to listen to music (which is funny since a lot of music is lyrical lectures). And this is a benefit show for some charity or another. So I know it’s coming. Well, I’ll just pound a few Shiner Bocks. It’ll make the shit go down smoother.
I reread this post and I come across as some sort of anti lesbian asshole. Let me be clear that I don’t give a rat’s ass about lesbian politics. I’m an equal opportunity jerk. I respect everyones right to speak their mind, which I will do my best to ignore. If I’m going to a rally, I’ll be overjoyed to listen to politics. If I’m going to a show, I want to hear music.
Bottom line: Yay lesbians! Boo politics!
Busy weekend
My brother is flying down from NYC this weekend. I haven’t talked to him in weeks so I guess he’s staying with Brent. My mom is also going to be driving up from Dothan and staying with Meghan and I. It’s going to be crazy this weekend. And stressful. I just hope I have a nice easy week at work, because there will be no rest for me at all this weekend. Tipsy, you coming or what?
Bogus
OK, my motorcycle jacket didn’t sell. The final bid was $61 and my reserve was $75. I guess this is God telling me to keep my jacket and just get another motorcycle. Well, OK then.
