Ok, I go through these phases. I can’t help if I’m a techno geek. But I bought this laptop about three or four weeks ago and it’s been great. But now I’m wondering if I can put Linux on it. I know I’m asking for trouble, but so what. So, I’m open to any suggestions (except from my wife who will destroy me when she reads this). What type of Linux would work well with an HP/Compaq nx7010?

Fedora Core 3 will jump on it with NO PROBLEMS minus a “sleep” hiccup every now and then. For something a bit faster I would give Vecort Linux SOHO or Yoper a shot as well.
P.S. I put Linux on Sun’s for sport

Ha ha, when someone tells me Linux will install with no problems, I become very wary and my asshole clenches up tight. I’ve installed linux on desktops probably 4 or 5 times and have always had some weird issue. However, since I’m fully aware of the likelihood of disaster, I can just prepare ahead of time! Like ghosting my laptop in case of megafailure. I’m unaware of Fedoracore though. Any good docs or links to help me learn more?
